CGI

It is possible to use CGI scripts on the webserver, although usage is on the decline in favor of PHP scripts or servlets.

Personal accounts

Personal CGI scripts should be stored in the directory

/home/example/public_html/cgi-bin/script

after which it is accessible to browsers as

http://www.win.tue.nl/~example/cgi-bin/script

Business accounts

Business CGI scripts should be stored in the directory

/home/zakelijk/example/public_html/cgi-bin/script

after which it is accessible to browsers as

http://www.win.tue.nl/~example/cgi-bin/script

Note the ~ in this address; it is not conformant to the usual business account URLs. Please expose this address as little as possible, especially in light of the information below.

URLs

It's possible for both of the URLs to the CGI scripts above to be changed after an upgrade of the webserver. While we will do everything possible to relocate clients that use old URLs, we can't promise to do that forever. Therefore, please expose the CGI script URLs as little as possible (by linking to them from a static main page for example).
