Fluid
dynamics at the micro and macro scales
|
Abstract
|
We
review recent research activities and results dealing with multi-phase
fluid dynamics when observed at the micro and macro scales. The
distinguish feature of micro and macro fluid dynamics is the Reynolds
number which, while very small for microflows, it can attain large
values in macro flows opening the way to turbulence.
As prototypal examples we cite the problem of contact line motion for
micro flows and the transport of particulate in turbulent environment.
We provide a briefly insight into the numerical methods for multiphase
fluid dynamics currently in use for micro and macro scales problems.
