| Title: |
A Higher Order Finite
Volume Scheme for the 2D-Shallow-Water Equations
|
Abstract
|
Many processes in nature and
sciences can be described by partial differential equations. A class of
these equations are the hyperbolic partial differential equations, for
which special schemes exist to compute the temporal evolution of a
given state. An example for an equation of this class are the
2D-shallow-water equations that model flows in waters whose surface is
of much larger dimension than their depth and that are widely used in
ocean and hydraulic engineering, among others.
In this talk, I will present a combination of methods, namely a
finite-volume-scheme in combination with a WENO reconstruction and a
space-time-expansion, that results in a numerical higher order scheme
for the 2D-shallow-water equations.
