Applications of Level Set Methods and Fast Marching Methods |
|
Abstract
|
| The third lecture in this series is about applications of
level set
methods and fast marching methods. These methods are used for solving
problems
where free boundaries are present. Some of these disciplines are
geometry,
robotics, imaging, denoising, fluids, optimal designing, etc. The
emphasis
will be on several applications, like how to filter a "noisy" picture
without
loosing the sharpness of the original parts, how to find an optimal
path
for moving an object of an arbitrary geometry (for example, moving a
piano
in a house full with furniture), etc. Implementation of algorithms and
numerical results will be also given. |
