Abstract
|
Solving hyperbolic conservation laws
frequently leads to discontinuities in the considered functions.
Especially for the reconstruction or approximation of such functions
classical methods fail or provide significantly less accuracy. Hence
refined methods have to be applied. The CASA seminar, taking place the
first semester 2006/07, considers this advanced part of numerical
approximations.
The second talk will shortly summarize the basic idea of the
reconstruction based on cell average values, especially the idea of ENO
reconstruction. Afterwards the basic concepts and the procedure of the
cell average version of WENO are presented. Finally three different
methods to solve one dimensional scalar conservation laws will be
shown. Those are the finite volume method, the WENO-Roe and the flux
splitting version of the finite difference method.
