Abstract
|
In this talk a moving-boundary
problem (the so called “One-phase Stefan Solidification problem”),
which can be described mathematically by means of a variational
inequality of parabolic type, will be considered. If a stationary
liquid is initially at its freezing temperature and heat is then
conducted out of the liquid, the resulting solidification process may
be formulated as a one-phase Stefan problem. Finite element
approximation will be then constructed to discretise the
complementarity system derived for the problem. The stability of the
numerical method will finally be explained.
