Eric Postma: On Lie algebras defined by a partial linear space

We study a construction of Lie algebras using oriented partial linear spaces, proposed by Jonathan Hall after ideas from Kaplansky and studied earlier by Cuypers. We find a classification of the partial linear spaces that satisfy the requirements of the construction, using geometrical results by Hall. Then for those partial linear spaces we determine a suitable orientation, using group theory.
