Kenny Paterson (University of London): Cryptography from Pairings
In this talk, we will give an overview of pairing-based
cryptography, a relatively new area of cryptographic research that has
undergone rapid development over the last five years. Pairings on
elliptic curves are maps with very nice algebraic properties that can be
exploited to produce interesting and efficient cryptographic primitives.
We will focus on explaining how pairings have been used in constructing
identity-based encryption schemes, short signature schemes, and
non-interactive key agreement schemes, whilst providing pointers to
their many other applications in cryptography.
