Research activities
- The main activities in our group are related to:
Algebraic Combinatorics
- This includes the study of association schemes, designs, (mutually orthogonal) latin squares, etc. Notably, existence results, constructions and unicity (given a specification of some properties)
of these structures are of interest.
-
Finite Geometry
- The study of the geometry of groups of Lie-type, buildings (introduced by Tits) and the diagram geometries of Buekenhout. Also included are combinatorial problems concerning point sets in finite
projective spaces, especially blocking sets and arcs.
-
Computer Algebra
- Algebra, viewed as the study of operations on sets can, when the computer is able to perform these operations, be supportd by expert systems, formula-manipulation, searching software. as well as
classical computations. The study of the methods to realize this is the focus of this project.
