Minutes of the meeting of the Task Force at BPM 2010

These are the minutes of the IEEE Task Force on Process Mining Meeting at BPM 2010 September 15th 2010, Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken NJ.

Although the meeting was running in parallel with other sessions (including presentations of task force members and process mining related demo's), it was well visited. About 20 people attended.

IEEE World Congress on Computational intelligence (WCCI2010)

Dear IEEE Task Force members,

I am pleased to announce a special session at the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI2010) with the title ‘Computational Intelligence Approaches to Process Mining and Optimisation’. A call for papers is included in this email. Please feel free to redistribute this call to colleagues,

Best Regards,

New events to promote the research, development, education and understanding of process mining (as per June 2010)

LOIS workshop "Process Mining meets Data Mining" (PMDM’09)

The LOIS workshop “Process Mining meets Data Mining” (PMDM’09) on Wednesday October 28, 2009 at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e). See http://w3.tue.nl/nl/de_universiteit/onderzoek/onderzoeksprofiel/lois/agenda/process_mining_meets_data_mining/. On http://wwwis.win.tue.nl/pmdm2009/doku.php?id=program you can find the slides that have been used in this workshop.

Advanced SIKS Course on Process Mining and Data Mining

The Advanced SIKS Course on Process Mining and Data Mining on October 26-27, 2009 at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e). See http://www.siks.nl/PM-DM.txt. On http://wwwis.win.tue.nl/pmdm2009tut/doku.php?id=program you can find the slides that have been used in this course.

Discussion of a standard format for event logs

Another activity that I would like to start is the discussion of a standard format for event logs (based on the experiences with MXML). I will form a small working group to come up with a proposal and to start some discussions. Some of you will be approached for this.

LinkedIn Group on "Process Mining"

Something that is also relevant for this Task Force is the LinkedIn Group on “Process Mining” (see http://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=1915049&trk=anet_ug_hm). This group serves as a forum for discussions. Here, I will also announce the existence of this group.

Promotion of the topic, articles

Also some other activities have been initiated to promote the topic, e.g., there will be articles in IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine and IEEE Computer promoting the topic. Moreover, in the BPTrends Spotlight on October 20, 2009, Paul Harmon will talk about Business Intelligence and Mining Techniques. Please also try to get articles into national magazines for professionals.
