Submission final versions
Deadline: Augustus 1st, 2005.
The procedure for submission of final versions for the video track is
almost the same as for the initial submissions. Two differences:
Formats
Videos are submitted as a digital video movie, with maximum size of 100 MB,
accompanied by a two (2) page summary of the work. The length of the video
should preferably not exceed 5 minutes, but in very special cases exceptions
can be made. The size limit is strict however.
A submitted video file must be in one of the following formats:
- Quicktime: with Sorenson or MPEG4 compression
- AVI: with Indeo 5.10, MPEG4, or DivX 5.x.x compression
The audio in the video can also be compressed or just left as a low
bit-rate mono channel to save space (e.g., 22KHz, 16bit Mono, with IMA
4:1 compression). Videos should be at least 15fps and at least 320x240
resolution, with mono audio if needed.
The two page summary of the work should follow the
Formatting
Requirements of submitted papers.
Uploading files
To submit a contribution to the video track of IEEE InfoVis 2005,
proceed as follows:
- Prepare the video file and the summary file. The filenames
should contain the name of the contact-author, for instance
smith.avi and smith.pdf.
- Use ftp to submit the files. Note that not all ftp-programs
can handle the transfer of large files. The command-line versions
in Windows or Unix however can do the job. The command to be used
is
ftp ftp.win.tue.nl
Next:
- Login as infovis:
User (svnftp.win.tue.nl:(none)): infovis
- with password 2005:
Password: 2005
- Switch to binary mode:
ftp> binary
- Upload the files:
ftp> put smith.avi
ftp> put smith.pdf
- Quit ftp:
ftp> quit
- Send an e-mail to Ed Chi (echi AT parc.com), with
subject "Video contribution", in order to notify that a final
version has been submitted.
The video co-chairs will check if the submission has been
received and satisfies the formal requirements, and notify you
on this.
