established the 3TU.Federation,
which maximizes innovation by combining (critical mass) and concentrating
(focus) the strengths of all three universities in research, education and
knowledge transfer, thereby enlarging their impact on the field of the Dutch
knowledge based economy.
About 3TU.NIRICT
The 3TU.Netherlands Institute for Research in ICT (3TU.NIRICT) is one of the centers of competence of de Institute of Science and Technology of the 3TU.Federation. In this center of competence, the three universities combine their resources and harmonize their efforts and research priorities in the area of information and communication technology. It also contains centers of excellence that focus on special research projects and programs within the subject area concerned. One of the goals of 3TU.NIRICT is to contribute substantially to innovation. 3TU.NIRICT research creates knowledge which can be used in the development of new ICT products, applications, and services. Innovation requires that ideas which have a commercial potential move from the laboratories into the marketplace.
About 3TU.NIRICT Research Laboratories
To strengthen the knowledge transfer within the 3TU.NIRICT's Strategic Research Agenda’s and the 3TU.NIRICT center of excellence 3TU.Center for Dependable ICT, the joint 3TU.NIRICT Research Laboratories have been founded to support the industrialization of academic results, to support the industrial application of academic results, and to support knowledge transfer from universities to industry, in particular to SMEs. The 3TU.NIRICT Research Laboratories are formed by the 3TU.NIRICT Laboratory for Quality Software, the 3TU.NIRICT Smart Environments Laboratory, and the 3TU.NIRICT Design Laboratory.

The 3TU.NIRICT Research Laboratories Eindhoven are facilitated by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Department of Electrical Engineering of Eindhoven University of Technology.
