How does Pattern Abstraction plug-in represent log transformation?

Hi, I'm an Italian student and i'm working, for a project at my university,at Process Mining.

Now i'm working on process discovery using different data sets, the objective is to put on work the main process mining techniques in order to discover the control-flow, organizational and social prospective .

I tried with the data sets on TU/e datacentrum, the call center example of Nitro and the data of prom's tutorial, but i have some difficulties interpreting them (Fuzzy and Heuristic miner in first place).

So, i read about the Pattern Abstraction plug-in on "Process Mining in the Large" by J. Bose, and i was wandering if i can use that technique to transform the spaghettiness of real life process (or simulated process with some nested AND/XOR splits like the YAWL model of the book) in different sub-process that are lasagna-like.

I'm using either ProM 5.2 and ProM 6.1; in ProM 6.1 there is the Pattern Abstraction plug-in but is not possible to "Transform Log" in fact if i click on that button a windows came up asking me where i want save the file. But the saved file is without and extension, and if i put the .xes o .mxml extensions and try to import in ProM the import procedure says me that "No process is contained in that file".

So my question is: where could i find a good implementation of this plug-in?
Because i can find plug-in documentation and a book on this plug-in but i can't believe that is not implemented in ProM for the users yet.

I can't in pattern abstraction plugin use "export log", this message was shown:

What i do wrong?

Action View/Plug-in Problems with ProM6.2 Tutorial

Hi everyone, i'm an Italian university student and i'm starting to work with your tool.

Unfortunatly, after installation i'm experiencing some problems.

Reading "Getting started" PDF (http://www.promtools.org/prom6/downloads/prom-6.0-getting-started.pdf) i didn't find the "BPMN2010" plug-in in the Plug-in Manager.

However, at the maiden run of ProM6.2, it called the Plug-in manager and downloaded automatically some plug-in.

I finished reading the "Getting started" PDF because i thinked that the automatical phase of download has taken for me the BPMN2010 package.

(But until now it's not present in the "Up-to-date" panel of Plug-in Manager).

When i started reading the "ProM 6 Tutorial" (http://www.promtools.org/prom6/downloads/prom-6.0-tutorial.pdf) i get stucked on "Cleaning the Log" section because in my version of ProM, the standard tools are missing!

After importing the repairExample.xes the action "Simple Log Filter" is missing from the list, either the Alpha Algorithm is missing (but there is "Mine for a Petri Net using Alpha Algorithm").

Maybe some of the action have been renamed? Or i didn't took the right plug-in?

In that case where I can find the BPMN2010 plug-in?

In fact it's not present in the "Not installed" plug-in list either. (see prom.png)

I posted here 3 screen shots of ProM running on my machine.

I tried the installation procedure on 2 PC running respectively Windows 8 and Windows Vista, same problems on both machines.

I'm a new ProM 6 user (or will be soon), and I've gone through the Getting Started document, and am now working through the ProM 6 tutorial, but some of the links seem to be dead. In section 1.4 Getting Started there are instructions to

Requesting either of those URLs results in a timeout. I can get a file named repairexample.xes from the zip file for chapter 8 from

http://www.processmining.org/event_logs_and_models_used_in_book

but I'm still stuck on the standard.ltl.zip. I though to try to use the package manager to install the LTL model checker, but I'm having very little luck launching the package manager (though it started on the ProM 6's maiden run without a problem). I'm running on Ubuntu, and thought that (based on ProM62PM.bat) that I could launch the package manager from the command line, but that fails as follows:

$ java -cp ProM62.jar org.processmining.context.uitopia.packagemanager.PMFrame

Error: Could not find or load main class org.processmining.context.uitopia.packagemanager.PMFrame

although jar tf confirms that the class is there:

$ jar tf ProM62.jar | grep PMFrame

Hello,

I'm currently working on the ProM 6 tutorial pdf (http://www.promtools.org/prom6/downloads/prom-6.0-tutorial.pdf),
but I'm struggling with section 3.2 (Mining Case-Related Information
about a Process). I'm told to select the "Pattern Abstractions"
visualizer from the drop down list, but I only have the following
options: "Log Visualizer", "Show Sequences and Patterns" and "XLog
Overview"

I can not neither find the PatternAbstraction action while selectin my log file.

I tried to clear the contents of the following registry key (using regedit) as suggest in a previous post but still the same problem ;

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\org\processmining\framework\plugin

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be, i am stuck because of this ...

Visualization tab in Detail view is not working

Hi,

I have started with Prom 6.2. I have imported repairExample.xes in Prom. I am getting screen as in Figure 4 (Prom tutorials). But when I am trying to click on the view button in the detail view, I am not able to click it (eye in the detail view). And if I try to click on the eye in the workstation tab it does not display anything.

Please guide.

How to use ontologies with ProM ?

Hey,

I've read that it's possible to link ontologies to certain elements of an XES log file by using the attribute 'modelReference' of the semantic extension.

As far as I understand it, you only have to specify the URI of the ontology and there is no special format required (i.e. OWL). Right?

I'm just wondering if I can do anything useful with these ontologies when importing the log into ProM ???

I am wondering if there is a plugin that generate various graphs a log. For example.

1) Number of events per day (histrogram)

2) Number of event by event type (pie chart)

3) Distribution of event based on similar attribute (histrogram)

4) Number of people in each role (pie chart)

I am looking for generic information that can be retrieved from looking at event log similar to the log summary UI.

Hey,

I'm having three problems:

1) I'd like to mine an EPC with additional data such as the organisational unit or data of an EPC function. Is this possible in ProM 5.2 or ProM 6? I couldn't find a plugin functionality to do so. In case it's not supported: Is there any other way to get such a result on base of log files that contain the necessary data ?

2) After the mining I want to export the result to ARIS because I don't want to mine only one process model. My intention is to build a bigger model or to add process interfaces with a modeling tool like ARIS. I've seen that it's no problem to export mined models with ProM 5.2. However, I couldn't do it with ProM 6.2. Did I overlook something or isn't the export supported in the 6.x versions?

3) The export with ProM 5.2 causes a warning when importing the model to the ARIS Business Architect 7.2, some models aren't imported correctly. Is there a recommendation which ARIS version to use ? The AML format seems to have changed a bit since the ProM 5.2 plugin was implemented.

In the process mining online help , the social network miner - I can see the table with information and Threshold , and the graph ---but when I use the prom6 And use the Social network miner I can only view the diagram or graph but where will I find the table with values and where can i set the threshold.

Import sample file doesn't show up

When I import the sample file repairExample.xes, nothing happens. It doesn't show up like in figure 4 of the tutorial. The screen stays empty. No error messages.

Just installed Prom6.1, revision 2286 / Windows version. Install went fine, all files in the righ place and Prom61, the process manager and XESame launch fine. When I try to install packages through PM, a screen whizzes by and nothing happens, Package stays in the "Not installed" folder. I do not see any packages.xml file or the pacakges folder being created. I also seem to be missing the "BPM2010" pacakge. Help?

Hello I try to starting with ProM 6.1 for my Master Thesis. So read the tutorial and try to do the Pattern Abstraction Viewer , if I want to visualize the selected log I get the message " Selected Log yet to be implemented". So my question is this function really not implemented in ProM6.1 or do I something wrong.

I searched but could not find a plugin that generates a random sound Petri net.

Does anybody know if such a plugin exists for ProM5 or 6?

If there is no plugin for this could you please point me to some temporary solution for doing this or to some algorithms that can be used to code it?

Empty package manager

Hi folks,

I just installed ProM 6 on a Win XP machine. Unfortunately, the Package Manager is unable to resolve the list of "not installed" packages which is keeping me from installing any plugins (see attached screenshot).

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Heuristics Miner ProM 6

I've got a few questions about the Heuristics Miner in ProM 6:

- Is it true that when you start the Heuristics Miner in ProM 6, it actually launches the Flexible Heuristics Miner?
- What does the fitness calculation in the left bar mean? It always says 'individual 0', but does it calculate the fitness for the whole log or just for a part of it?
- When I use the split/join-semantics, all I seem to get are X's. When I look at the number of the cases, it seems to me as if sometimes it is an ANDOR- instead of an XOR-split though. Is this normal? Or do I look at it in the wrong way?

Anyone who can help me with any of these questions would do me a great favour...

Visualizing Data from Heuristic or Fuzzy Miner

I am using ProM 6.1 on Windows, with Java 1.6.0_30. I have been able to successfully import my data file into ProM using XESAME. I can do a social network and dotted chart analysis on it. But, when I try to do a fuzzy or heuristics mining on it, it processes for about 30 minutes, says its finished in the Activity windows, and then when I try to view the resource, it only displays a white screen.

Any suggestions?

Dear all,

the conformance checker can be used to check deviating behavior in a log file from a designed model, but for instance 'replay a log on a petri net' does not give in how many cases a certain deviation exists (right?). Is there a conformance checking plug-in which visualizes deviating behavoir and where you can select a certain deviation (for instance the inserting of an activity) and export the conforming and non-conforming cases or is LTL-checker the best option here?

How to invoke ProM 6 Java (MacOSX) Package Manager?

Hello dear community,

i have been working with ProM (5.2, 6.0, 6.1) for quite a while on MacOSX. Today I found that my 6.1 installation misses some plugins (not shown in GUI though present in packages folder).

As I just wanted to do a fresh cleanup I deleted the prom 6.1 software folder as well as the user folder .ProM61 in my home directory. I even deleted the folder .ProM there (probably left over from 6.0). Then I downloaded 6.1 and ran ProM61.jar (using automagic MacOSX JarLauncher.app). On running ProM61.jar, UITopia starts with restoring an empty workspace and only four plugins available. The user folder .ProM61 is created with an empty package.xml in subfolder packages and no plugins at all.

So I wonder:

#1 Why does ProM61.jar invoke the GUI and not the package manager even if I deleted the user folder? I have not found any possibly Java related preferences in my system configuration so far...

#2 How can I just launch the package manager manually on MacOSX? I found a similar issue here in the forum but the proposed solution involves setting up a shell script with all appropriate .jar files in CLASSPATH on linux, and before I dive deeper into that I wanted to know if anybody out here has a more elegant solution!

Hello,

I finally managed to get Prom6 running (it appartently had something to do with my Java version), but now I have been trouble importing my log. I have a log like this:

Patient ID | Activity | Timestamp

100 | act1 | 01-12-2011 08:00

101 | act1 | 01-12-2011 08:00

When I import this file(CSV) in Prom6 it is shown as a key/value set. I then use the 'Convert Key/Value Set to Log' plugin in order to create a log. To trace identifier I assign the PatientID column, to concept:name the Activity column and to time:timestamp the Timestamp column. The problem is that this never gives the desired result. Most of the time it correctly identifies the 'instances' (the PatientID) and the event related to them (Activity) but it does not recognize the timestamp ( - no timestamp - ). In rare cases it does recognize the timestamp, but then it does not connect the activity names to the events. In other cases it thinks the activities are instances... This happens seemingly arbitrarily but with exact the same mapping setup... So far it has been a pain to get the correct log from my CSV file. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Alternatively I could convert it using XESame, however this does not seem to run correctly. Even when I set it up as noted in the tutorial it will always give the following error: "Sorry but the test failed because the driver could not be found: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver".

It would help me out a great deal if I could simply convert my CVS to a usable log.

ProM 6 running on x32 vs X64 Java

Hi, I used the following config to run ProM 6/ProM 6 Package manager and I get confused with the correct java architecture to use.

Win 7 64 bit; Java version 1.6.0_29 (x32 and x64); ProM 6 installation: cross-platform.tar.gz

For x32 java, it failed to continue to load and requires force shutdown of Java VM.

For x64 java, it run smoothly.

When I use the same installation to run XESame with 32 bit java vm, it run smoothly.

As I'm peer studying ProM for my group and my other colleagues are still using 32 bit Windows,

I need to know how to decide which architecture to use for running ProM 6.

Validation of XES sample log fails.

I am finding this wierd problem.

When I try to validate the sample XES file (running-example.xes) from the Process Mining book by van der Aalst, located at http://www.processmining.org/_media/processminingbook/chapter_1.zip, against the xes schema located at http://code.deckfour.org/xes/xes.xsd, I get the following schema validation error:

Cannot find the declaration of element 'log'.

I try to validate the schema using the online tool http://tools.decisionsoft.com/schemaValidate/

Am I doing something wrong?
