We are constantly interested to meet motivated PhD candidates. The positions in the ViCoMo project have been taken in the mean time, but we do have 7 open positions.
For our PhD candidates, we expect to have a master in Computer Science with experience in distributed systems, system and software architecture. They must be fluent in system programming. From our postdocs we expect a doctorate in Computer Science and similar conditions as for PhD candidates.
PhD position in the `iLighting the world' laboratory. `iLighting the world' is a new research programme starting in May 2009 and supported by 6 faculties of TU/e. This PhD position represents a cooperation with the department of Industrial Design and of Electrical Engineering. The application domain of the research is a setup in a room or office in which many objects emit light. The challenge for this research concerns the software infra structure to support multiple applications on top of a distributed system of resource-constrained devices. Aspects of reliability, programmability (by end users), viability (in terms of cost and deployment) and transparency of the technical infra structure are among addressed challenges.
PhD position in the Vitruvius project. The Vitruvius project is a Dutch research project with several partners in the Eindhoven area. It addresses the development of a body sensor network as a reliable platform for applications in the medical domain. Research challenges are around the design of the dependability and privacy of the platform in terms of information security, data trustworthiness and code trustworthiness.
Support Engineer. For our project we need the help of a support engineer assisting in the development of systems and software, in their maintenance and occasionally joining in publications. We think of an MSc or PDEng graduate in Computer Science or Software Technology. Candidates must be fluent with system software.
