We discuss the algorithm for the translation of knots into braids by Yamada and Vogel. This was recently implemented in GAP in order to create a link between two computer programs, Knotweaver and Seifertview. We intend to indicate where the difficulties lie in implementing this algorithm, and how they may be solved.
