The time evolution of some very special classes of physical models can be described exactly. We discuss one of the oldest nontrivial examples of such a model, which describes interacting particles on the line. We show that it can be understood by combinatorial methods involving Yang-Baxter equations. The related model on the circle is discussed as well.
