| In this first lecture on elation generalized quadrangles, I will introduce some basic concepts and results of the theory, and try to emphasize their importance in the broad theory of generalized quadrangles. I will then elaborate on William Kantor's famous conjecture concerning the parameters of an elation quadrangle, mentioning the most fundamental old and recent results on that matter. |
