The mathematics of Feynman diagrams

Lecturer: Jos Vermaseren (NIKHEF, Amsterdam)

We look at what are Feynman diagrams and what is done with them. We start at how they are derived and represent particle physics reactions. Then we study what techniques are involved in evaluating them. This leads to many different types of mathematics. As such it has been the inspiration for approaches in group theory and the invention of new categories of functions. In addition the enormous size of the expressions has led to the creation of a number of well know computer algebra packages. We will look at many of these topics without going too much into details.
