Virtual Reality for interventional X-ray machine development
To validate (models of) embedded software it is useful to have a virtual
simulation of the hardware that is controlled by the software. 3D gaming
techniques allow adding a realistic visualization layer to the simulator. At Philips
Healthcare, 3D graphics engine Ogre is currently used to visualize the behavior
of an interventional X-ray machine. This initial simulator/visualization system
already allows for quick prototyping of new concepts and interaction with clinical
specialists.

IBM
IBM Software Group is one of the largest software development organisations
in the world, and operates an expert lab in the area of visual data
discovery in Weert, The Netherlands. We design and build software that
helps business users understand their data better through both visual and
computer-assisted means.

Design of a multi modal data structure
The goal of microscopy is to image features of interest with as much precision as possible. Often, the same feature is investigated with multiple techniques and under different magnifications. All this information can be used to get a better picture of the sample under investigation. At FEI Company, we recognize the need for a good data model to better support our future data processing needs for these data sources. The goal of the assignment is to recommend the best data structure to represent this. more

A project at FEI, a scientific instruments company located in Eindhoven.
Information only available offline.
===== Collective Dynamics in Deformed Polymer Glasses ====
Everyday e=xperience shows that polymers deform irreversibly under the application of
high loads. While such behavior can not only be observed and quantified in experiments, and also
described phenomenologically using macroscopic models, the relevant microscopic processes are still
largely unknown. For example, it is still challenging to explain why polystyrene fails brittle while
polycarbonate shows ductile deformation.

European Design Centre - COMMANDS
In order to monitor the behavior of a simulated group of individuals (eg visitors to a major event like a music festival) it is necessary to display diagnostic information about the 3D representation of a scene. This diagnostic information contains statistics for each individual (eg heart rate), per location (eg temperature or decibels), and global information (time, specific events). We seek a masters student for designing and implementing the per-individual information or per-site information.
