In the early eighties the Working Group on Software (WGS) was founded as a Benelux working group between several academic institutes and industries that felt the necessity of combining software implementation efforts with respect to realising reliable control software.
The main objectives of WGS are:
WGS has a strong academic representation, which means that the members of the group are very active in the development and implementation of numerical methods for control systems analysis and design. WGS is now operating on a more general European level.
WGS has started the EU funded thematic network NICONET (i.e. Numerics In COntrol NETwork). This project runs from January 1, 1998 until December 31, 2001. The network has members in academia and industry
