INFORMATION THEORY in the BENELUX

Werkgemeenschap voor Informatie- en Communicatietheorie
Sponsor: IEEE Benelux Chapter on Information Theory

With pleasure we give notice of an invited lecture by Prof.dr. J.L. Massey.

Prospective authors are encouraged to submit papers according to the time schedule and deadlines listed below. The papers should be typed in LaTeX-format using the WICsymposium-class file
(use \documentclass[..]{WICsymp} as the first line in your LaTeX-document).
After finishing the paper, please send the .pdf-file to Dr. G.R. Pellikaan.

Papers are sollicited in the following areas:

Shannon theory and applications of information theory,
Multi-user information theory,
Source and channel coding, data compression,
Cryptography and data protection issues, including watermarking,
Audio/video signal processing and compression,
Speech/signal processing, pattern recognition,
Signal detection and estimation,
Ubiquitous communications,
Wired and wireless networks,
Mobile multimedia.

Time schedule and deadlines:
February 28, 2004 Deadline for submission of one-page summary, including name(s) and address of author(s).
March 15, 2004 Notification of acceptance. Authors of accepted papers will receive instructions for the precise manuscript format.
April 7, 2004 Deadline for submission of full paper (camera-ready manuscriptsof at most 8 pages). These papers will appear in the symposium's proceedings.
June 2-3-4, 2004 Symposium.

Using the Internet / Checking your email

At Rolduc Wireless Internet is available in many spaces of the building. So when you bring your own laptop to Rolduc, it will be no problem to get online.
If your laptop is not equipped with a WIFI card, then you can rent one at Rolduc for EUR 5,00 a day (with a deposit of EUR 50,00).
