Blok continued his research in Coxeter groups and Chevalley groups. Together with Brouwer, he wrote a paper on spanning point-line geometries of spherical type. Goldbach and Claasen investigated the relation between Hadamard matrices and association schemes. Maks derived some interesting connections between the space-time algebra and line geometries. Minkes extended the computer algebra package GUAVA with covering radius routines. Simonis published a paper on MacWilliams identities with respect to arbitrary partitions of the coordinate index set. Using these generalized identities, he managed to prove the uniqueness of the Wagner code. Together with Ashikhmin, he introduced and analysed the notion of an almost affine code. They obtained some results concerning the existence of perfect ideal secret sharing schemes. Smits studied the connection between cyclic codes and quantum groups. Van Zanten investigated the dimension of standard lexicodes. He continued his search for construction techniques of distance preserving codes.
