The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's)

Formed 1 July 1881 by merger of 91st Regiment of Foot and 93rd Regiment of Foot.

1st Battalion
Raised 9 July 1794 as 98th (Argyllshire Highlanders) Regiment of Foot. 20 January 1971 reduced to Balaklava Company; reconstitued 15 February 1972.

7th/8th (Volunteer) Battalion The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's)

Formed 10 February 1995 with Headquarters at Forthside, Stirling by redesignation similar designated units of 3rd Battalion 51st Highland Volunteers.

COMPANIES:
HQ Company at Meadowforth Road, Stirling.
B Company at Cumbernauld.
C Company at Falkirk.
D Company at Dumbarton with Pltn at Dunoon.
 

1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic Defence Review.
'C' Company at Falkirk disbanded. 'D' Company reorganised as 'D' Company 51st Highland Regiment;
'HQ' Company and 'B' Company amalgamated as 'E' Company 51st Highland Regiment.
