Formed 1 July 1881 by redesignation of 19th Regiment of Foot.

1st Battalion
Formed 20 November 1688 as Francis Luttrell's Regiment of Foot.

4th/5th Battalion The Green Howards (Yorkshire Volunteers)

Formed 25 April 1993 with Headquarters at Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough by redesignation of similar designated units of 1st Battalion Yorkshire Volunteers .

COMPANIES:
HQ Company at Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough. GPMG(SF) Pltn and Recce Pltn at Guisborough.
A Company at Scarborough with Pltn at Guisborough.
B Company at Stockton Road, Middlesbrough.
C Company at Harrogate with Pltn at Northallerton.
 

1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic Defence Review.
'A' Company and 'B' Company redesignated as 'A' Company and 'B' Company The Tyne Tees Regiment respectively, with 'C' Company becoming platoon of 'A' Company.
