1st Battalion
Formed 17 September 1994 by merger of 1st Battalion The Queen's
Own Highlanders and 1st Battalion The Gordon Highlanders .
3rd (Volunteer) Battalion The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons)
Formed 10 February 1995 with Headquarters at Elgin by redesignation similar designated units of 2nd Battalion 51st Highland Volunteers.
COMPANIES:
HQ Company at Elgin.
B Company at Peterhead with Pltns at Keith and St Andrews.
C Company at Inverness with Pltns at Fort William and Stornoway.
D Company at Aberdeen with Pltns at Laurencekirk and Lerwick.
Support Group at Wick with Pltns at Kirkwall and Dingwall.
1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic
Defence Review.
'B' Company and 'C' Company redesignated as 'B' Company
and 'C' Company 51st Highland Regiment,
absorbing sub-units from 'HQ', 'A' and 'D' Company and the
Support Group.
