Infantry of the Line

Regulars and Volunteers

About this page

On this page the lineages are given for the Infantry of the Line during the period 1967 - 2000. It is intended as such, so there are no links to Regimental web-pages. These can be found at links listed at the British Army research page.
The Regiments are listed in order of precedence. The Territorial Army components of several Regiments are listed under the very Regiment. For example, the volunteer battalions of the Royal Anglian Regiment are found here; The volunteer elements of The Royal Scots are found at the Volunteer Regiment section under the 52nd Lowland Volunteers. Italic font means the Regiment is not longer on the Army List.
It should be noted that only the changes since 1967 are listed. Per Regiment its last notable change is given, additional to information on its battalions. Regiments like The Royal Scots, which remained unchanged since 1967, except for the T.A. units, are listed to give the full picture.
