The Queen's Lancashire Regiment

Formed 25 March 1970 by amalgamation of The Lancashire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Volunteers) and The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire).

Formed 25 March 1970 by merger of 1st Battalion The Lancashire Regiment and 1st Battalion The Loyal Regiment.


4th (Volunteer) Battalion The Queen's Lancashire Regiment

Formed 1 April 1975 with Headquarters at Kimberley Barracks, Preston by reorganisation of 2nd Battalion Lancastrian Volunteers.

COMPANIES:
HQ Company at Kimberley Barracks, Preston by redesignation of 'HQ' Company 2nd Battalion Lancastrian Volunteers.
A Company at Burnley with Pltn at Haslingden by redesignation of 'A' Company 2nd Battalion Lancastrian Volunteers.
B Company at Preston with detachments at Blackpool and Blackburn by redesignation of 'D' Company 2nd Battalion Lancastrian Volunteers.
C Company at Ashton-under-Lyne with Pltn at Bolton by redesignation of 'C' Company 2nd Battalion Lancastrian Volunteers.

1 April 1986: Battalion re-roled as four company NATO (MILAN) Battalion.
Support platoons formed: MILAN Pltn in Bolton, Mortar Pltn in Preston and Recce Pltn in Blackpool.
'D' Company formed at Blackburn and Haslingden from Haslingden platoon 'A' Company and Blackburn platoon 'B' Company.
'B' Company consolidated at Blackpool with platoon at Preston.
'C' Company at Ashton-under-Lyne transferred as 'C' Company 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, less Bolton detachment which formed new 'C' Company at Bolton on 2 April 1986.

1992: unit reduced to three company order of battle.
'C' Company absorbed into 'B' Company; 'D' Company merged with 'A' Company establishing 'A' Company at Blackburn with Pltn at Burnley.
New 'C' Company (Fusilier) formed December 1992 at Bury by transfer of 'D' Company 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers; company retained its affiliation to The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

1996: Battle honours introduced as company subtitles as follows:
'HQ' (Waterloo) Company, 'A' (Somme) Company, 'B' (Quebec) Company, 'C' (Gallipoli) Company (Fusilier).
 

1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic Defence Review.
'HQ' Company and 'B' Company amalgamated, and 'A' Company and 'C' Company amalgamated to form 'B' and 'D' Company The Lancastrian and Cumbrian Volunteers respectively.
