Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia)

Formed 1 April 1967  from existing Regiment and 43 Wessex Division RE (TA), 48 South Midland Division RE (TA) and 53 Welsh Division RE (TA).

Squadrons:
HQ Squadron at Monmouth.
100 Field Squadron (Militia) at Cwmbran and Cardiff.
108 (Welsh) Field Squadron (Militia) at Swansea.
225 (City of Birmingham) Field Squadron at Oldbury.

1 April 1992: Previously independent 143 Plant Squadron atWalsall brought under command.
1 April 1993: HQ Squadron numbered as 101 HQ Squadron (Militia) (This is the pre 1967 squadron number).

1 April 1999: 143 Plant Squadron transferred to 75 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers).


71 (Scottish) Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 from 51 Highland Division RE (TA), 52 Lowland Division RE (TA), 80 (Scottish) Port Regiment (TA) and 432 Corps Engineer Regiment (TA).

Squadrons:
HQ Squadron at Glasgow.
102 (Clyde) Field Squadron at Paisley.
104 (City of Edinburgh) Field Squadron at Edinburgh.
124 (Lowland) Field Squadron at Coatbridge.

1 April 1993: 117 (Highland) Independent Field Support Squadron at Dundee brought under command;
HQ Squadron became 80 HQ Squadron.

1 July 1999: Regiment disbanded as result of the Strategic Defence Review and was reformed upon amalgamation with 72 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers) and 76 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers) as an air support regiment.

71 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

117 HQ Squadron at RAF Leuchars from 76 Engineer Regiment.
72 (Tyne Electrical Engineers) Field Squadron (Air Support) at Newcastle with detachment at Sunderland from 72 Engineer Regiment.
102 Field Squadron at Paisley from 71 Engineer Regiment.


72 (Tyne Electrical Engineers) Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 at Gateshead from 50 Northumbrian Division RE (TA).

Squadrons:
HQ Squadron at Gateshead.
103 (1st Newcastle) Field Squadron at Newcastle.
105 (Durham) Plant Squadron at Gateshead.
118 (Tees) Field Squadron at Middlesbrough.
129 (East Riding) Field Squadron at Hull.

1975: 105 Squadron made independent.
1977: 129 Field Squadron transferred to 73 Engineer Regiment (V).
Replaced by 106 Field Squadron at Sheffield from 75 Engineer Regiment (V).

1992: 106 Field Squadron transferred to 73 Engineer Regiment (V).
1993: HQ Squadron numbered 233 HQ Squadron.

1 July 1999: Regiment disbanded and reduced to 72 Field Squadron 71 Engineer Regiment.


73 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 January 1969 at Bilborough, Nottingham a reinforcement combat engineer unit in support of 1st (British) Corps in BAOR.

Squadrons:
HQ Squadron at Bilborough, Nottingham.
217 (London) Field Squadron at Holloway and Wandsworth.
272 (West Riding Artillery) Field Squadron at Bradford.
575 (Sherwood Foresters) Field Squadron at Chesterfield and Derby.

1975: 873 Movement Light Squadron at Acton, London.
1977: 272 Field Squadron transferred to 74 Engineer Regiment (V).
129 (East Riding) Field Squadron at Hull and Goole by transfer from 72 Engineer Regiment (V).

Regiment reorganised as result of Options for Change as an air support regiment.
April 1991: HQ Squadron redesignated 129 HQ and Support Squadron.  Existing 129 Squadron disbanded, merged into 131 Commando Squadron.
1992: 106 (West Riding) Field Squadron (Air Support) at Sheffield by transfer from 72 Engineer Regiment (V).
272 Field Park Squadron at Bradford by return from 74 Engineer Regiment (V).
217 Field Squadron disbanded/transferred to 101 Engineer Regiment (V).
1993: 873 Movement Light Squadron disbanded/transferred as 220 (Searchlight) Field Squadron (EOD) 101 Engineer Regiment (V).
350 (Nottinghamshire) Field Squadron (Air Support) formed at Chilwell, Nottingham and Mansfield.
The Jersey Field Squadron (Royal Militia of the Island of Jersey) in St Helier, Jersey joined Regiment.

1 July 1999: 272 Field Park Squadron reduced to 2 Troop 106 Field Squadron.


74 (Antrim Artillery) Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 in Northern Ireland by amalgamation of 146 (Antrim Artillery) Corps Engineer Regiment (TA) and 591 (Antrim) Independent Field Squadron (TA).

Squadrons:
HQ Squadron at Belfast.
112 (Antrim Fortress) Field Squadron at Bangor, Carrickfergus and Belfast.
114 (Antrim Artillery) Field Squadron at Antrim, Belfast and Ballymena.

1977: 272 (West Riding Artillery) Field Squadron at Bradford by transfer from 73 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers).

1992: 272 Field Squadron transferred to 73 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers).
1 April 1994: Regiment reduced to 74 Independent Field Squadron at Bangor.

1 July 1999: 74 Independent Field Squadron disbanded. History and traditions transferred to 85 Signal Squadron 40 Signal Regiment (Volunteers).


75 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 at Manchester from 42 Division RE (TA) and 107 Corps Engineer Regiment (TA).

Squadrons:
HQ Squadron at Failsworth, Manchester.
106 (West Riding) Field Squadron at Sheffield.
107 (Lancashire and Cheshire) Field Squadron at Birkenhead and St.Helens.
202 (Duke of Lancaster's) HQ & Tg Squadron at Clifton, Manchester and Preston.

1977: 106 Squadron transferred to 72 Engineer Regiment (V); 202 Squadron reroled as field squadron.

1993: HQ Squadron was numbered as 201 HQ Squadron;
Previously independent 125 (Staffordshire) Field Support Squadron at Stoke-on-Trent joined Regiment.

1 July 1999: 202 Field Squadron disbanded and replaced by 143 Plant Squadron at Walsall.


76 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 November 1992 at RAF Leuchars to control existing airfield damage repair squadrons and Scotland and the north of England.

Squadrons:
277 HQ & Support Squadron at RAF Leuchars;
234 ADR Squadron at RAF Leeming;
236 ADR Squadron at RAF Kinloss;
237 ADR Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth.

1 April 1995: all ADR Squadrons redesignated Field Squadrons (Air Support).

1 July 1999: Regiment disbanded.
277 Squadron transferred as 117 HQ Squadron 71 Engineer Regiment (V).


77 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 November 1992 at RAF Honington to control existing airfield damage repair squadruons in eastern and southern England.

Squadrons:
219 HQ & Support Squadron at RAF Coningsby;
216 ADR Squadron at RAF Marham;
218 ADR Squadron at RAF Brize Norton;
267 ADR Squadron at RAF Waddington.

1 April 1995: all ADR Squadrons redesignated Field Squadrons (Air Support).

1997: RHQ moved to RAF Coningsby.

1 July 1999: Regiment and all squadrons disbanded.


78 (Fortress) Engineer Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1993 at Southampton to provide a new support regiment for 3rd (UK) Mechanised Division.

Squadrons:
560 (Hampshire) HQ Squadron at Southampton. New formed.
127 (Sussex Yeomanry) Field Squadron at Brighton. Formed by conversion 200 Battery Royal Artillery (V) 100 Regiment Royal Artilley (V).
227 (Hampshire Yeomanry) Amphibious Engineer Squadron at Aldershot with detachments at Southampton. Formed in 1992, possibly from personnel 'B' Company 2nd Battalion The Wessex Regiment (V).  Yeomanry title recreated at same time, no connection with the pre-1967 Hampshire Yeomanry.

1 July 1999: Regiment disbanded at result of the Strategic Defence Review.
227 and 560 Squadrons reformed as 457 Battery Royal Artillery (V) 106 Regiment Royal Artillery (V). Reamainder disbanded.


101 (London) Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) (Volunteers)

Formed 1 June 1988 to control 4 existing EOD squadrons in London and south-east England. Regimental Headquarters at Catford, London.

Squadrons:
HQ Squadron at Catford, London.
579 EOD Squadron at Dartford;
583 EOD Squadron at Holloway;
590 EOD Squadron at Rochester;
591 EOD Squadron at Chatham.

1 March 1993: Regiment re-organised and squadrons renumbered:
220 (Searchlight) Field Squadron (EOD) at Acton. Formed by transfer 873 Movement Light Squadron 73 Engineer Regiment (V);
221 Field Squadron (EOD) at Rochester;
222 Field Squadron (EOD) at Holloway with Troop at Brighton.

1996: HQ Squadron renumbered at 223 HQ Squadron.

1 July 1999: Regiment reorganised.
223 HQ Squadron at Catford, London;
217 Field Squadron (EOD) at Islington, London;
221 Field Squadron (EOD) at Rochester;
579 Field Squadron (EOD) at Tunbridge Wells with 2 (Surrey Yeomanry) Field Troop at Reigate.


Independent Engineer Squadrons

105 (Tyne Electrical Engineers) Plant Squadron at South Shields. Made independent 1975 by removal from 72 Engineer Regiment (V).
1993 the squadron rejoined regiment again.

117 (Highland) Field Support Squadron at Dundee. Formed 1 April 1967 as independent unit from 51 Engineer Regiment (TA) and 117 Corps Engineer Regiment (TA).
1993 squadron transferred to 71 Engineer Regiment (V).

125 (Staffordshire) Field Support Squadron at Stoke-on-Trent. Formed 1 April 1967 as independent unit from 125 Engineer Regiment (TA) .
1993 squadron transferred to 75 Engineer Regiment (V).  Two Plant troops as Cannock to 143 Plant Squadron. Plant troop formed at Stafford from 143 Squadron.

131 Independent Parachute Squadron at Kingsbury, London. Formed 1 April 1967 from 131 Engineer Regiment (TA).
1978 Converted and retitled as 131 Independent Commando Squadron.

135 Field Survey Squadron at Ewell. Formed 1 April 1967 from 135 Survey Regiment (TA).
1986 squadron retitled as 135 Independent Topographic Squadron.

143 Plant Squadron at Walsall. Formed 1 April 1967 from 291 Plant Squadron (TA).
1992 squadron lost one plant troop to each 125 Squadron (at Stafford) and  108 Squadron and took two troops at Cannock from 125 Support Squadron.
Squadron transferred to the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia)

873 Movement Light Squadron at Acton. Formed 1 January 1969 from cadre 873 Movement Light Battery (The Middlesex Regiment) RA.
1975 squadron transferred to 73 Engineer Regiment (V).
