The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment

Formed 27 April 1994 by amalgamation of The Gloucestershire Regiment and The Duke of Edingburgh's Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire).

1st Battalion
Formed 27 April 1994 by merger of 1st Battalion The Gloucestershire Regiment and 1st Battalion The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment.


2nd (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment

Formed 6 October 1995 with Headquarters at Brock Barracks, Reading by amalgamation of 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion The Wessex Regiment.

COMPANIES:
HQ (Berkshire) Company at Brock Barracks, Reading with Assault Pioneer Pltn at Cinderford. Formed by redesignation of 'D' Company 2nd Battalion The Wessex Regiment.
A (Gloucester) Company at Gloucester with Pltn at Cheltenham. Formed by amalgamation of 'A' Company and 'C' Company 1st Battalion The Wessex Regiment.
B (City of Bristol) Company at Bristol. Formed by redesignation of 'B' Company 1st Battalion The Wessex Regiment.
C (Wiltshire) Company at Devizes with Pltn at Swindon. Formed by redesignation of 'HQ' Company 1st Battalion The Wessex Regiment and Company from 2nd Battalion.
 

1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic Defence Review.
'A' Company and 'B' Company merged as The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment Company The Rifle Volunteers;
'HQ' Company and 'C' Company merged as The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment Company The Royal Rifle Volunteers.
