Formed 1 January 1966 by redesignation of 3rd Green Jackets, The
Rifle Brigade. Subtitle omitted 1 July 1968.

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Davies Street, London as TAVR II unit begin the successor to The Queen's Royal Rifles (TA), The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (TA) and 3rd Green Jackets, The Rifle Brigade (London Rifle Brigade/ Rangers) (TA).

A (Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire) Company at Oxford. Formed
from The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (TA).
B (Queen's Royal Rifles) Company at Fulham, London. Formed from
Queen's
Royal Rifles (TA).
C (London Rifle Brigade Rangers) Company at Finsbury, London.
Formed from 3rd Green Jackets, The Rifle Brigade (London Rifle Brigade/
Rangers) (TA).
15 December 1969 'D' Company formed at Aylesbury from personnel The Buckinghamshire Regiment RA.
1 December 1986: 'A' Company and 'D' Company transferred
as 'HQ' Company and 'D' Company 5th Battalion.
New companies formed: 'F' Company at Mile End Road, London and
'G'
Company at West Ham, London.
1988 'H' (HSF) Company formed at Davies Street.
25 July 1992 Battalion organised into three rifle company establishment.
'G' Company redesignated as 'A' Company; 'F' Company
redesignated as Support Company at Mile End, London. 'E' (HSF)
Company disbanded.
1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic
Defence Review.
'HQ' Company and 'B' Company reorganised as 'F' Company

'A' Company redesignated as 'G' Company The

5th (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Green Jackets
Formed 1 December 1986 with Headquarters at Oxford.
HQ Company at Oxford. Formed by re-roling of 'A' Company 4th
Battalion.
A Company at High Wycombe, Booker. Raised from 13 and
14
Pltn 'D' Company.
D Company at Aylesbury. Formed by redesignation of 'D' Company
4th Battalion.
E Company at Milton Keynes. Raised from 16 Pltn 'D' Company
and Bletchley detachment.
1990 'I' (HSF) Company formed with detachments at Oxford, High Wycombe, Aylesbury and Milton Keynes.
1 April 1995: Battalion converted into a Fire Support Battalion.
'D' Company at Aylesbury disbanded to form Mortar Pltn at same
location under 'A' Company. 'E' Company formed Milan Pltn
at Oxford.
1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic
Defence Review.
'HQ' Company and 'A' Company merged as 'A' Company
