31 (Greater London) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Southfields, London by amalgamation of 41 (Princess Louise's Kensington) Signal Regiment (TA), 47 (Middlesex Yeomanry) Signal Regiment (TA) and 83 Signal Regiment (AER).

SQUADRONS:
HQ Squadron at Hammersmith. Southfields, London.
41 (Princess Louise's Kensington) Signal Squadron at Coulsdon.
47 (Middlesex Yeomanry) Signal Squadron at Harrow.
83 (London) Signal Squadron at Southfield and Codham ; Duke of York's Barracks, London.

31 (Special Tasks) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Redesignated 1 April 1987.

November 1995 47 Signal Squadron transferred to 39 Signal Regiment . 56 Signal Squadron at Eastborne added to Regiment.

31 (City of London) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)
Redesignated.

32 (Scottish) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Glasgow by redesignation of 51 (Highland) Signal Regiment, 52 (Lowland) Signal Regiment (TA),61 (City of Edinburgh) Signal Regiment and 82 Signal Regiment (AER).

SQUADRONS:
HQ Squadron at Glasgow.
51 (Highland) Signal Squadron at Aberdeen.
52 (Lowland) Signal Squadron at Glasgow.
61 (City of Edinburgh) Signal Squadron at Edinburgh.
82 (Army Emergency Reserve) Signal Squadron.

1 April 1969 69 (North Irish Horse) Signal Squadron formed at Londonderry from The North Irish Horse.
1970s 82 Squadron disbanded.

1 April 1995: 69 Signal Squadron transferred to 40 (Ulster) Signal Regiment.

33 (Lancashire and Cheshire) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Huyton, Liverpool by amalgamation of 42 (Lancashire) Divisional Signal Regiment (TA), 59 Signal Regiment (TA) and 80 Signal Regiment.

SQUADRONS:
HQ Squadron at Huyton, Liverpool.
42 (East Lancashire) Signal Squadron at Rusholme, Manchester.
59 (West Lancashire) Signal Squadron at Deysbrook Lane, Liverpool.
80 (Cheshire) Signal Squadron at Gilwern, Chester.

1973 80 Squadron subtitled '(Cheshire Yeomanry)' since unit originated from the latter's signal section.

23 July 1994: 80 Squadron moved to Runcorn.

1 July 1999: HQ Squadron retitled 55 (Merseyside) HQ Squadron, taking number disbanded squadron.
42 Squadron subtitled '(City of Manchester)'; 59 Squadron subtitled '(City of Liverpool)'.

34 (Northern) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Middlesbrough by amalgamation of 49 (West Riding)  Signal Regiment (TA), 50 (Northumbrian) Signal Regiment (TA) and 90 Signal Regiment.

HQ Squadron at Middlesbrough.
49 (West Riding) Signal Squadron at Carlton Barracks, Leeds with Troop at Hull.
50 (Northumbrian) Signal Squadron at Darlington with a Troop as Newcastle.
90 (North Riding) Signal Squadron at Middlesbrough with Troop at Hartlepool.

35 (South Midland) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Sutton Coldfield by amalgamation of 48 (South Midlands) Signal Regiment, 58 Signal Regiment and 319 Signal Squadron.

HQ Squadron at Sutton Coldfield.
48 (South Midlands) Signal Squadron at Sparkbrook, Birmingham.
58 (Staffordshire) Signal Squadron at Newcastle-under-Lyne.
89 (Warwickshire) Signal Squadron at Rugby.

1 April 1969 95 (Shropshire Yeomanry) Signal Squadron formed at Shrewsbury.

1986: 48 Squadron subtitled '(City of Birmingham)'.

1 July 1999: RHQ and HQ Squadron moved to Coventry.

36 (Eastern) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Ilford by amalgamation of 44 (Home Counties) Signal Regiment (TA) (Cinque Ports), 45 (Essex) Signal Regiment (TA) and 54 (East Anglian) Signal Regiment (TA).

SQUADRONS:
HQ Squadron at Ilford or Wanstead, East London.
44 (Cinque Ports) Signal Squadron at Gillingham.
45 (Essex) Signal Squadron at Brentwood.
54 (East Anglian) Signal Squadron at Cambridge with two Troops at Kempston and a Troop at Norwich.

1984: 45 Squadron to Colchester with Troops at Brentwood.

1992: HQ Squadron to Ilford.
December 1992 44 Signal Squadron relocated at Grays with two Troops at Southend-on-Sea.

37 (Wessex and Welsh) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Bristol by amalgamation of 43 Signal Regiment (TA) , 53 Signal Regiment (TA) and 57 Signal Regiment (TA).

HQ Squadron at Bristol.
43 (Wessex) Signal Squadron at Bridgwater and Exeter.
53 (Welsh) Signal Squadron at Cardiff and Brecon.
57 (City and County of Bristol) Signal Squadron at Bristol and Cheltenham.

1 April 1969 67 (Queen's Own Warwickshire and Worcestershire Yeomanry) Signal Squadron formed at Stratford-upon-Avon with a Troop at Stourbridge from cadre The Queen's Own Warwickshire and Worcestershire Yeomanry.

November 1992: Regiment reorganised as result of Options for Change:
Headquarters moved to Kohima House, Redditch and HQ Squadron reformed at Redditch by redesignation of 'HQ' Company 4th (Volunteer) Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment.
43 Signal Squadron became independent;
57 Signal Squadron transferred to 71 Signal Regiment.
93 (East Lancashire) Signal Squadron at Blackburn with Troop in Manchester transferred from 38 Signal Regiment.
96 Signal Squadron new formed at Coventry from 4th (Volunteer) Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment.

38 Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Sheffield by amalgamation of 46 (North Midland) Signal Regiment (TA), 64 Signal Regiment (TA) and elements of 337 Brigade Signal Squadron.

46 (Derbyshire) Signal Squadron at Derby and Leicester.
64 Signal Squadron at Manor Top, Sheffield.
87 (City of Nottingham) Signal Squadron at Nottingham.

1 April 1969 93 (East Lancashire) Signal Squadron formed at Blackburn with Troop in Manchester from 4th (T) Battalion The East Lancashire Regiment.
November 1992: 93 Signal Squadron transferred to 37 Signal Regiment.
70 (Essex Yeomanry) Signal Squadron formed at Chelmsford and Harlow by transfer from 71 Signal Regiment.

1 April 1995: 70 Signal Squadron transferred to 71 Signal Regiment.

38 (City of Sheffield) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)
Redesignated 1 April 1995.

March 1996: 46 Signal Squadron subtitled '(City of Derby)'.

39 (City of London) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 at the City of London by amalgamation of 65 Signal Regiment (TA) and 92 Signal Regiment (AER).

SQUADRONS:
2 (Dundee) Squadron at Dundee.
3 Signal Squadron at Tunbridge Wells.
5 (Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars) Signal Squadron at Banbury.

39 (City of London) Signal Regiment (Special Communications) (Volunteers)
Redesignated 1987.

1992: 3 Signal Squadron disbanded.

1 April 1995: 2 Signal Squadron became independent.

39 (Skinners) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)
Reformed 1 April 1995 by taking elements from 31 Signal Regiment and 71 Signal Regiment. Headquarters moved to Bristol.

HQ Squadron at Bristol by resignation HQ Squadron 37 Signal Regiment.
1 (Royal Buckinghamshire Yeomanry) Signal Squadron at Blechtley. New formed.
5 (Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars) Signal Squadron at Banbury.
47 (Middlesex Yeomanry) Signal Squadron at Harrow by transfer from 31 Signal Regiment.
57 (City and County of Bristol) Signal Squadron at Bristol with two Troops at Cheltenham by transfer from 71 Signal Regiment.

September 1995 47 Signal Squadron moved to Uxbridge.

40 (Ulster) Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 at Belfast by amalgamation of 66 Signal Regiment (TA), 81 Signal Regiment (AER) and 302 Signal Squadron.

SQUADRONS:
HQ Squadron at Clanover Park, Belfast.
66 (City of Belfast) Signal Squadron at Clanover Park, Belfast.
81 (Northern Ireland) Signal Squadron at Belfast.
85 (Ulster) Signal Squadron at Clanover Park, Belfast and Lurgan. Later to Newtownards.

1969: 81 Signal Squadron at Belfast disbanded. New independent air support squadron formed at Middlesbrough in 1971.

1 April 1995 69 (North Irish Horse) Signal Squadron formed at Limavady by transfer from 32 Signal Regiment.

1 July 1999 85 Squadron moved to Bangor and subtitled  '(Ulster and Antrim Artillery)'.

71 (Yeomanry) Signal Regiment

Formed 1 April 1969 with Headquarters Bromley from The Inns of Court and City Yeomanry, The Essex Yeomanry and The Kent and County of London Yeomanry in Home Defence Communications role.

68 (Inns of Court and City Yeomanry) Signal Squadron at Lincolns Inn and Whips Cross.
70 (Essex Yeomanry) Signal Squadron at Chelmsford and Harlow.
94 (Berkshire Yeomanry) Signal Squadron at Chertsey, Windsor and Southampton.
265 Signal Squadron at Bexleyheath. Roled as Headquarters squadron.

1970: 265 Signal Squadron gained communications role and subtitle '(Kent and County of London Yeomanry)'.

1987: Headquarters moved to Bexleyheath, London.
HQ (Kent and County of London Yeomanry) Squadron formed at Bexleyheath. 265 Signal Squadron formed Troop at Brighton.

November 1992: 70 Signal Squadron transferred to 38 Signal Regiment.
57 (City and County of Bristol) Signal Squadron at Bristol by transfer from 37 Signal Regiment.

1 April 1995: 57 Signal Squdron transferred to 39 Signal Regiment.
70 (Essex Yeomanry) Signal Squadron transferred from 38 Signal Regiment.

1 April 1996: 94 Signal Squadron became independent.

72 Signal Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 July 1999 as Radio Support Regiment with Headquarters at Oxford from elements 4th (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Green Jackets.

SQUADRONS:
43 (Wessex) Signal Squadron at Bath.
60 Signal Squadron at Aylesbury with Troop at Booker, Marlow. New formed.
94 (Berkshire Yeomanry) Signal Squadron at Windsor with Troop at Reading.

Independent Signal Squadrons

1 (Royal Buckinghamshire Yeomanry) Squadron (Special Communications) at Bletchley.
Formed 1 April 1995 from elements 39 Signal Regiment and 602 Signal Troop.  Subtitle granted February 1996.

2 (City of Dundee) Signal Squadron formed 1 July 1999 at Dundee by removal of squadron from 39 Signal Regiment.

43 (Wessex) Signal Squadron at Bridgewater and Exter by removal from 37 Signal Regiment in November 1992. To Bath 1 July 1999 and attached to 72 Signal Regiment.

55 (Thams and Mersey) Signal Squadron formed 1 April 1967 at Long Lane, Liverpool. 1 June 1970 subtitled '(West Lancashire)'.
Disbanded 1 July 1999, title adopted by HQ Squadron 33 Signal Regiment.

56 Signal Squadron formed 30 November 1970 at Eastbourne and Sandgate from 858 and 859 Corps Reinforcement Signal Troops (V) (these troops were formed March 1969).
1995 transferred to 31 Signal Regiment.

63 (Special Air Service) Signal Squadron at Emsworth with A Troop at Porthmouth and C Troop at Southampton.

81 Signal Squadron at Middlesbrough; Formed 1971 by removal from 40 Signal Regiment.
1992 relocated at Colerne, Wiltshire and attached to the regular 21 Signal Regiment (Air Support).

94 (Berkshire Yeomanry) Squadron at Windsor with Troops at Reading and Chertsey by removal from 71 Signal Regiment in 1 April 1996. Attached to 72 Signal Regiment 1 July 1999.
