Formed 1 April 1967 as TAVR II unit from 21st Special Air Service Regiment (The Artists Rifles) (TA).
HQ at Chelsea, London.

SQUADRONS:
A and B Squadrons at Chelsea, London;
C Squadron at Hitchin;
D Squadron at Portsmouth.

1994: Regiment reduced from 5 to 3 Squadrons:
A Squadron at Chelsea, London;
B Squadron at Raglan Barracks, Newport;
C Squadron at Portsmouth;


23rd Special Air Service Regiment (Volunteers)

Formed 1 April 1967 as TAVR II unit from 23rd Special Air Service Regiment (TA).
HQ in Birmingham.

SQUADRONS:
A Squadron at Solihull;
B Squadron at Leeds;
C Squadron at Rotherham;
D Squadron at Invergowrie.

1 April 1975: A Squadron relocated to Port Glasgow.

1994: Regiment reduced from 5 to 3 Squadrons:
D Squadron at Ivergowrie with detachment at Port Glasgow.
B Squadron at Sandyford, Newcastle.
G Squadron at Manchester;

1 July 1999:
D Squadron redesignated A Squadron;
B Squadron and G Squadron merged to form C Squadron.
New B Squadron at Leeds;


R Squadron Special Air Service Regiment (Volunteers)
Formed 1 April 1967 as TAVR I unit at Hereford. Squadron consisted of specially selected from 21st SAS Regiment and 23rd SAS Regiment and was attached to the regular 22nd SAS Regiment.
Redesignated L Detachment later.
