The Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's)

Formed 31 January 1959 by amalgamation, less Territorials, of The South Staffordshire Regiment and The North Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's).

Formed 31 January 1959 by merger of 1st Battalion The South Staffordshire Regiment and 1st Battalion The North Staffordshire Regiment.

3rd (Volunteer) Battalion The Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's)

Formed 5 April 1988 with Headquarters at Wolverhampton by reorganisation of Mercian Volunteers.

COMPANIES:
HQ Company at Wolverhampton. New formed.
A Company at Tamworth. New formed
B Company at Stoke on Trent by redesignation of 'B' Company 2nd Battalion Mercian Volunteers.
C Company at Burton on Trent and Rugeley by redesignation of 'C' Company 1st Battalion Mercian Volunteers.
D Company at Walsall by redesignation of 'D' Company 2nd Battalion Mercian Volunteers.
E (HSF) Company formed.

1992: reduced to three rifle company establishment.
'D' Company at Walsall disbanded.
 

1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic Defence Review.
'B' Company and 'C' Company redesignated as 'D' Company and 'C' Company The West Midlands Regiment respectively.
'HQ' Company and 'A' Company disbanded.
