Henk C.A. van Tilborg was born in Tilburg, the Netherlands, on September 1, 1947.
He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, the Netherlands in 1971 and 1976, respectively.
Since 1972 he has been with the Department of Mathematics and Computing Science of the Eindhoven University of Technology.

Over the years he has visited the Mathematical Research Center of Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, the Communications Systems Research Section of Jet Propulsion Laboratories, Pasadena, CA, and the Information Storage Group at the IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA.

As Visiting Professor he has worked at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, the University of Pretoria, South Africa, the Open University, the Netherlands and the Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

His main research interests are coding theory, cryptology and discrete mathematics.
