graduation route

A simple outline for the organisational steps that lead to a graduation:

  1. Registration as a master student for some master program, open to

    A subregistration is possible for

  2. (Study and enjoy yourself with the richness of the material that is offered you here or there.
Consult the study guides for the standard courses, consult the master coordinator for the  possibilities to follow the nonstandard ones (and be credited for them).)

  3. Half way your study, say after you collected 40-50 ects, you should construct your individual program, such that it meets the requirements of the program you're in and so that it satisfies your own interests and likings. In particular, you should know what your specialisation will be, at least on the level of the area of expertise but rather we know the name of the supervisor.
To that end you may want to consult the areas of expertise and the people mentioned on the masterproject page first.
    The form should contain:

This individual program is to be submitted to the exam committee for approvement.
You can get an apropriate form  with the studentadministration and you should hand it in there too (a fully signed hardcopy as well as a digital version). Advice may be obtained from the master coordinator.
Within a month after you handed the program in, the studentadministration communicates the findings of that committee.

  4. (Again study)

  5. Upon completion of the curriculair part of the program you submitted and got approval for, you may want to start with the master project. For that you need approval of the supervisor, the head of the area of expertise and (last but not least) the mastercoordinator. To that end you file a graduation form with project description and the necessary signatures with the mastercoordinator. Approval needs:
  6. You can only finish your project (marked by a presentation and a defense of the thesis) if all other elements of the approved program are completed. So don't be too optimistic in doing courses and project together. It may harm both.

  7. One month before finishing your project, your supervisor should define an assessment committe according to the regulations in the study guides. The choice for the assessment committee is submitted to the exam committee for approval.

  8. Note that in general the project is to last at most nine months. An extension of three months may be requested by the supervisor and the student. The exam committee may grant such a request, but at most once. In case the project is not finished the result will be "Failed" and you should look for a new (but different) supervisor and project.
