When delivered by BCF, your PC is configured so that you should be able to read your mail with Outlook without configuring anything else. This is e-mail delivered to the e-mailaddress

Outlook mail is not backed up separately! This means that we will not be able to restore your mailbox just to recover one item that you accidentally deleted. You can, however, restore items deleted up to three months past yourself, so this service should rarely be needed anyway.

It is also possible to automatically filter spam using Outlook rules.

Managing large mailbox folders

Note that the quota for your Inbox is limited and that items in all of your mailbox folders, including the Deleted Items and Sent Items folders count against your size limit.

To create more space you can do one or more of the following:

  • delete items in Deleted Items
  • archive your e-mail in a Personal Folder (.pst) file
  • ask for more quota

You will receive a warning when your mailbox reaches 200000 KB.

Creating and managing a mail archive (.pst)

  1. Open outlook 2003
  2. Click on Tools, then E-mail accounts
  3. Choose View or change existing e-mail accounts and click Next
  4. Click on New Outlook Data File ...
  5. Choose Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst)
  6. Choose a directory where you want the .pst file to be saved. IMPORTANT: Put the file on your G: drive so that it is backed up
  7. Choose a name, the encryption settings and a password (or leave the default) for your personal folders file and click Finish
  8. In the folder list there is a new item with the name you specified in the previous step (default "Personal Folders")

You can manage your archives in the following way:

  1. You can open these Personal Folders by clicking on them in the folder list
  2. You can create sub-folders in the Personal Folders by right-clicking on the personal folders and choosing New Folder. You can create folders for "Mail and Post items" (default), Contacts, Tasks, etc.
  3. You can drag and drop messages from any of the folders (with the same type of messages as the Personal Folders (e.g. "Mail and Post items", "Contacts")) to the Personal Folders.
