The SIAM 100-Dollar, 100-Digit Challenge

The Challenge

In the January/February 2002 issue of SIAM News, and later in Science, a contest was formulated. The contest consisted of ten problems, each having a single real number as the solution. For every ten digits that were determined correctly 10 points could be won, with a maximum of 100 points in total. Together with other groups, we managed to score that maximum number of points. On this page we present our solutions to the 10 problems.
