Press release The Eindhoven Institute for the Protection of Systems and Information (Ei/PSI) organizes a 1-day event on Security in Times of Surveillance on Thursday, 26 May 2016. The event features invited talks covering technical as well as legal and political aspects of security and surveillance and will close with a screening of A Good American, a film about the NSA whistle-blower Bill Binney. It will take place in the Blauwe Zaal at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. "For the third year in a row we have an exciting program including new threats and technological advances for protection" said Prof. Tanja Lange, the main organizer of the event. "The political landscape in Europe is changing: The Court of Justice of the European Union declared the EU-US safe-harbor agreement invalid and the Dutch government came out in support of strong encryption. At the same time some politicians exploit the Paris and Brussels attacks to advance anti-encryption agendas and government-sponsored hacking is spiraling out of control." The invited speakers include: * Roger Dingledine, Tor project * Rachel Greenstadt, Drexel University * Nadia Heninger, University of Pennsylvania * Andreas Hülsing, Technische Universiteit Eindhoven * Frederic Jacobs, EPFL * Bart Preneel, KU Leuven * Ton Siedsma, Bits of Freedom Registration is free but the number of participants is limited. Please register before 20 May 2016. More details can be found at: https://www.win.tue.nl/eipsi/surveillance.html Press contact Prof. Dr. Tanja Lange
