IEEE XES Schema updated
On March 8, 2019, an issue was detected in the IEEE XES schema. The issue was that the log attributes had to precede the extensions, globals, and classifiers, while the standards explicitly states that they should follow them. To fix this issue, the schema was updated.
The original IEEE XES schema also still exists, if needed.

XES Certification for ProcessGold 14 approved
On January 18, 2019, the XES WG has approved the requested XES Certification (Levels A, B, C, and D and flag X for import, none for export) for ProcessGold 14. This makes ProcessGold the fifth tool that has received a XES Certification from the XES WG, and the first industry tool that includes certified support for event classifiers.

XES Certification for Pm4py 0.1 approved
On December 20, 2018, the XES WG has approved the requested XES Certification (Levels A, B, C, and D and flag X for both import and export) for Pm4py. This makes Pm4py the fourth tool that has received a XES Certification from the XES WG.

XES artifact lifecycle extension approved
On December 5, 2018, the XES WG has approved the XES artifact lifecycle extension. THis extension is now considered to be a standard XES extension.

XES Certification for QPR ProcessAnalyzer 2018.6 approved
On November 21, 2018, the XES WG has approved the requested XES Certification (Levels A1, B1, C1, and D1 for import, none for export) for QPR ProcessAnalyzer 2018.6. This makes QPR ProcessAnalyzer 2018.6 the third tool that has received a XES Certification from the XES WG.

XES software communication and software telemetry extensions approved
On November 20, 2017, the XES WG has approved the XES software communication and software telemetry extensions. These extensions are now considered to be standard XES extensions.

XES Certification for Celonis 4.2 approved
On November 14, 2017, the XES WG has approved the requested XES Certification (Levels A1, B1, C1, and D1 for import, none for export) for Celonis 4.2. This makes Celonis 4.2 the second tool that has received a XES Certification from the XES WG.
October 13, 2017
XES Certification for ProM 6.7 approved
On October 13, 2017, the XES WG has approved the requested XES Certification (Levels A-D and X for both import and export) for ProM 6.7. This makes ProM 6.7 the first tool that has received a XES Certification from the XES WG.

XES software event extension approved
On September 22, 2017, the XES WG has approved the XES software event extension. This extension is now considered to be one of the standard XES extensions.

XES Certification proposal accepted by XES WG
On July 19, 2017, the XES WG has approved of the XES Certification proposal v2. As a result, we can now start checking the certification levels of the tools that support XES. Based on this certification, it will be clear whether XES files can be successfully transferred between these tools.
The figure above is the main figure in this proposal. It shows the four different levels of certification.

Eindhoven, The Netherlands – On November 11th, 2016, the IEEE Standards Association has officially published the XES Standard as IEEE Std 1849TM-2016: IEEE Standard for eXtensible Event Stream (XES) for Achieving Interopability in Event Logs and Event Streams. The IEEE Task Force on Process Mining has been driving the standardization process for over six years, because the standard allows for the exchange of event data between different process mining tools.
Through the XES Standard, event data can be transported from the location where it was generated to the location where it can be stored and analyzed, without losing semantics. The XES Standard enforces that this transport and storage is done in a standardized way, that is, in a way that is clear and well-understood. Next to providing a standardized syntax and semantics, the XES Standard also allows for extensions, e.g., adding cost information or domain specific attributes to events.

Version D03 of the XES Standard Proposal has been approved by the IEEE-SA Standards Board

was approved as a new standard by the IEEE-SA Standards Board on 22 September 2016. A copy of the document will be forwarded to the Standards Publications Department. The editor assigned to work on the project will contact the XES WG.

Version D03 of the XES Standard Proposal is on the September 19 RevCom agenda
The recirc is done, no new comments have been received, and no votes have been changed. As a result, the comments that resulted from the ballot have now been dealt with, and the resulting version (D03) has been put on the agenda of the next RevCom meeting, which is on September 19.

Recirculation of the XES Standard Proposal
On June 27, 2016, a recirculation of the the XES Standard Proposal was initiated. This recirculation was necessary because we needed to incorporate one of the comments that resulted from the ballot. This comment stated that for a Standard Proposal the use of local times in tiemstamps is undesirable, instead, a Standard Proposal should use UTC times in timestamps. This has been acknowledged and incorporated into version D03 of the XES Standard Proposal.

Voting is done for the XES Standards Proposal
On March 18th, the ballot for the current XES Standard Proposal was closed. Response rate is 95%, there is one abstention, and the approval rate is 100%.

Voting thresholds are reached for the XES Standard Proposal
On March 4th, the response rate was 77%, and the approval rate 100%. This means that in the end both will be above 75%, which means that both thresholds will be reached.

Time to vote for the XES Standard Proposal
As per February 12, 2016, the balloting group was closed. As per February 16, 2016, the ballot has opened. As a result, the members of the balloting group can now cast their vote on the current XES Standard Proposal. The ballot will close as per March 17, 2016.

XES Standardization Proposal submitted for Mandatory Editorial Coordination
On December 1st, revision 10 of the XES Standards Proposal was approved by the IEEE XES WG. This revison was updated into revision 11 (the month in the header was updated), which has been submitted on December 2nd for Mandatory Editorial Coordination (MEC).

First round for XES micro extension proposal
On October 26, 2015, the first round for the XES micro extension proposal has started. The planning for this proposal is as follows:

November 23 - December 6 | Round for approval |
If approved, the micro extension will be added to the then-current XES Standard Proposal, which will then be send to the IEEE CIS for ballot.

Second internal round in the XES standardization process
A second internal draft for the XES Standard Proposal is ready. In October, there will be the last internal round for comments on this proposal. In November, there will be an internal round for approval of the Proposal. The resulting internal Proposal will then be promoted to the first external Proposal, which will be submitted to the IEEE CIS in December.
