Logs generation for workflow testing

Hello everyone!

I have a workflow model and i want to check its working in ProM. As ProM takes Event logs as input. But i have not event logs of that workflow model. How can i generate logs form that workflow model so that i may use them as input to Prom and generate PetriNet from it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in anticipation.

    try the plg tool http://plg.processmining.it/.

@COngLiu Thanks for the reply. But so far i have seen, PLG generates random process logs. I have process of my own that i want to draw and make logs from that. Is there any way to do that using PLG or any other tool.

have a look at https://pure.tue.nl/ws/files/2148227/Metis194223.pdf. It introduces a tool to generate event log based on a CPN model.
    Good luck.

Thanks @CongLiu ; . I tried the method as described in above paper. I downloaded the CPN tools and opened the CPNET file as provided in this paper. Modified it as described in the paper. But only single transition is executing, name as "Generator" as described in paper. No other transition is executing resulting in the event logs being generated which contain only single number like one log file contain 1 in it, i execute it second time, another generates with only single number as 2 , so on an on. No other fields are being added to the log. Can you help me if you have worked earlier on this mehtod?

    Hi,

I found the following 2 sources that might help:
    1. http://processmining.be/loggenerator/
    2. http://www.processmining.org/online/cpnexport

Unfortunately the link provided by Cong to the paper does not work for me so I cannot assist any further in the concrete issue. However, did you try the 'play all' button in the simulation toolbox? It might be that first the cases are generated, and then the process is triggered.

@JBuijs thanks for the response. Let me check the two links you provided if they are working for me.

Referring to the link 1 you provided:

I have also tried the method that is mentioned in first link provided by you. It is log generator. But it is for prom 6.5.1. I am using latest version of prom 6.6. Somehow I modified the parameters to pick the exact library of the prom 6.6. It didn't worked. Java error was there. I Uninstalled prom 6.6. And installed 6.5.1, the command provided in link now ran successfully that picks java extension. But it still I can't see the extension in prom extensions list. Although command executes successfully.

Isn't this extension available directly in prom extensions library online????

Unfortunately the researchers that developed this did not opt to go for the standard approach, which would indeed make it readily available in ProM. If you want to use this approach it might be best to contact them directly as they are not on this forum.

Ok @JBuijs. Can I get help on the second option if I provide you link to the research paper mentioned by @CongLiu. About which you are saying that you are unable to access paper. And about which I was saying that simulation is not going beyond first transition????

Here is the link where this paper is present:
    http://repository.tue.nl/655201

Moreover presentation of same paper available at:
    http://www.processmining.org/_media/tools/cpn05_cpnlogs_v2.pdf

Please help me out. There must be some solution. I am doing my thesis work and i am stuck. I really need to get away with it.

I can have a quick look maybe next week. Could you link to the CPN file directly?

Also, please note my earlier comment: are you sure you pressed the 'play all' button, moving the model forward until no further action can be taken? It can be that first 1000 tokens are generated, and only then the process starts...
