Why there is a deviation between a processs model and its event log?

I actually surveyed the business process of the company. They told me that before each step, there will be a verification. If the previous step did not happen or is incorrect, the next step will not continue. so why is there a deviation?For example, an event does not occur. This problem has been bothering me，so I hope someone can help me solve my confusion.If possible,please give me a practical example of deviation. Thank you very much.

    Hi Ritajiao,

    As I understand, the information systems used in companies are often more flexible (i.e., provide more freedom) than the real business processes. In this case, some operations violated the process model may happen, which are called deviations.
