Tropical geometry can be view as a piecewise linear shadow of algebraic geometry. Most of the time, we can drive statements about algebraic varieties by means of their tropicalizations. One general difficulty in this philosophy is that the tropicalization strongly depends on the embedding of the algebraic variety. Therefore, the task of finding a good embedding or repairing a bad embedding to obtain a nicer tropicalization is an interesting and essential work for many of researchers in this area. In this talk, I will explain the concept of modification firstly and then some results with the help of examples, which allows us to repair bad embeddings under certain conditions.
