On monotone and double arithmetic progressions

Does any permutation of natural numbers must contain a monotone 4-term 
arithmetic progression? Does any infinite word on four positive integers must 
contain two consecutive blocks of the same length and the same sum? In this 
presentation a connection between these two open problems will be demonstrated 
and  some recent related results will be discussed.
