Welcome to my homepage.

Until July 1, 1998 I was employed as an Associate Professor (UHD) connected to the Chair of Deterministic Optimization of Prof.dr. J.F.Benders and later the Chair of Combinatorial Optimization of Prof.dr.J.K.Lenstra who became the successor of Prof.Benders in 1989

My particular interest area was Deterministic Nonlinear Optimization.

Nowadays you can still find me at the University at the Departmental (Mathematics and Computer Science) Branch of Notebook Service Center (NSC-filiaal) in Room HG 8.86 at the 8^th floor of the Main Building

Former Interest Areas

My main interest within the general area of Deterministic Nonlinear Optimization went out to the Application of Finite Dimensional Numerical Methods for Solving Nonlinear Optimal Control Problems. As such my field lied in the middle between the interest areas of the Chairs of Deterministic Optimization, Numerical Analysis and Control and Systems Theory. As a result of my long time experience with computing I was particularly interested in the numerical solution of all kinds of practical engineering optimization problems with Personal Computers or Workstations

    In my free time I am a practicing glider pilot and as such I have much interest in theoretical problems in gliding. The field of the optimization of sailplane trajectory problems is my favorite theoretical area.

    In the field of gliding I have always been very much interested in the training and safety aspects of gliding: In March 1998 I gave a PowerPoint presentation (in Dutch) with the title: Bevordering van de vliegveiligheid binnen de Nederlandse Zweefvliegerij on the topic of the promotion of flight safety in gliding.

    As a member of the Commissie Instructie en Veiligheid (CIV) of the Afdeling Zweefvliegen van de KNVvL (= the Dutch Gliding Association), I also gave several PowerPoint presentations on the recent developments around the Dutch Glider Pilot License
