The Old Soccers is an old and famous soccer club of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the TU/e. The following table gives the availability of the players. We try to have 7 players each match. No more and no less. When there are enough players, some are scheduled out, which is marked with R (for “reserve”, or “redundant”). Of course, it is nice to come and support the team in this case, but it is not required.
Legenda: R=reserve, L=linesman, +=available, -=not available, .=standard reserve
A quick and technical opponent, missed a few heavy chances. Only after a long time they succeeded to score. Our defense was solid, attacks somewhat unprecise. In the last minute, Michel received a difficult pass from Kaïs. With technical superiority, Michel made himself free and produced a hard shot in the upper corner. A draw, though it feels like a victory. Honorable mention goes to Ka Lok for several dangerous near misses that could have been match-deciding.
Even routine can be surprised. Before we knew it, we were 0-2 behind. Monty Python didn't lock the game, but kept on attacking. This gave us opportunities to score (1-2), but although their attacks had lost their sharpness, and Marko had gained sharpness, they succeeded in the end to increase the distance again (1-3). Our recovery (2-3) came too late. Goals from Kees (assist Kaïs) en Kaïs (assist Roel)?
Jos: I gave an assist (I think on Kais).
Hmm. The team manager was on holiday without leaving instrutions. Only 3 players showed up. Then 3-1 isn't that bad… Who scored?
Jos: Our goal keeper Marko scored, but I don't know who gave the assist.
Fast and aggressive opponent, not very techincal though and Roel predicted that we will get tired in the end. And so it went. After some time, Fallus took the lead with two goals in quick succession, leaving us a very few chances. In the last part we got more chances and Remo scored 1-2. Short before the end of the match Jos saw his stamina rewarded and miraculously tricked a defender and the goalkeeper at the same time: 2-2.
The following table gives the number of goals, assists, and matches of each of the players. Also the average number of goals per played match is given.
Match of 2 May has not been taken into account yet.
