 +====== Scanning on the Xeroxes (outdated) =====
 +
 +As of January 2009, the faculty has several Xerox copier machines that can do scanning. The scan will be sent to you by email.
 +Not really Mac-specific, but good to know. There are two ways to get a scan to your computer.
 +
 +===== Scanning to email =====
 +
 +  - go to the home screen of the copier ("All services")
 +  - choose **Email**
 +  - enter your email address
 +  - press the green button to scan
 +  - when scanning from the glass plate, press "Next original" if you want the current or next scan in the same file and press "Last original" if you want to close the file of scans with the current scan.
 +  - the scan(s) will be sent to you by email
 +
 +===== Scanning to file =====
 +
 +  - go to the home screen of the copier ("All services")
 +  - choose **Network scanning**
 +  - press the green button to scan
 +  - the scan(s) will be files in, e.g., [[smb://winstorage.campus.tue.nl/mf7nw]] (for copier on floor 7 of MF, northwest wing)
 +
 +===== Hint =====
 +
 +The big Xeroxes are quite good in copying and **scanning from books**.
 +When you choose "Book" as the type of original, the left and right page are scanned as separate images.
 +When your book doesn't fit a standard format, you can enter the size manually. Especially the width is important, since this determines where the page separation will be put (i.e., at half the width and this should coincide with the page separation in the original).
