Murat Firat

I am an assistant professor in the Information Systems (IS) group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands. Recently, I started leading the Business Process Intelligence (BPI) research cluster of the IS group. My research insterests are in the fields Combinatorial Optimization (CO), Operations Research (OR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). I completed my doctoral study in the CO group of TU/e under the supervision of Gerhard Woeginger (promotor) and Cor Hurkens (copromotor). My PhD study is conducted under a collaboration of TU/e and France Telecom where I have also worked as poctdoc reseacher for a follow-up study.

• Gale-Shapley stability of workforce assignments
• Scheduling of multi-skill workforce with stress concern,

In my research I

• formulate (also reformulate) scheduling and planning problems as Linear/Integer/Mixed Integer Programming models,
• conduct complexity analysis of these problems,
• develop exact appraoches mainly using Dynamic Programming, Column Generation, and Branch-and-Bound type search,
• develop heuristic approaches mainly using Integer Programming, and techniques in Network and Linear Optimization.
