Hello Students, look at the directory Onderwijs/OBS-Exercises. I want to help you by finding questions of how to solve certain problems/exercises. That means that I sometimes start with some idea, that I get a solution, oke. But then I find, that a lot work has been done. I'm asking myself, if it can be done on a shorter way and maybe easier way? And then a solution of two A4-pages can change into a solution of just two lines and then thinking yourselves, why I have not seen that before? I can only answer "You never know". Keep in mind, "nice" solutions, what is "nice"? Is there ever asked to you to give a "nice" solution? Often there are several ways to come to the solution. Keep also in mind, that two people can have the same solution, but only written on a different way. Or they have both a solution of a given problem and if you look to these solutions, they look very different, but both they are good. Maybe the problem has more then one solution? Keep care. Important is that you ask yourselve some questions: 1) Where is the question going about? 2) What can I use to solve it? 3) The lecture just given, can I use something of that? 4) Have I read the whole exercise? Often you only look to what you think, there has to be done. Maybe there is written at the first line of the exercise "This problem can not be solved." and you are searching for a solution? 5) ..... Let's go and see if everything goes well, but always try, without trying you achieve nothing, Rene' (van Hassel)
