The following applet requires Java 1.1. To copy the applet for local execution, you need

WiresApplet.html (the document you are now reading, which contains the applet instantiation, i.e., the <APPLET>-tag)
WiresAppletClasses.jar (the applet code)

The applet also indicates whether it has reason to believe that you guessed your answer and could not have known for sure!
Under the Sun (JDK 1.1.5) applet viewer, I have to resize the pop-up windows (such as the `cable' window) to get them to update. Furthermore, some of the texts are truncated (e.g. `Change switch'), and the window titles are not displayed.
Under the Microsoft implementation of the Java Virtual Machine (used e.g. in Internet Explorer), the Log window is for some reason not properly updated, and the background color of the buttons is not shown (only tiny bits in the four corners).
