11:15-13:00 speaker: Matthias Löwe (Münster) title: The Swapping Algorithm for simple disordered systems

abstract:

The Swapping Algorithm is an alternative to the well known Metropolis Algorithms, when the latter is torpidly mixing. We analyze its convergence for simple disordered models.

14:15-16:00 speaker: Bálint Vágvölgyi (Amsterdam) title: Invasion percolation ponds in 2D

abstract:

Invasion percolation is a stochastic growth model that is closely related to critical Bernoulli percolation.
Besides being an interesting model in its own right, invasion percolation is important due to its self organized criticality property.
In this talk, I will define the ponds of the invaded region and use them to derive results showing both similarities and dissimilarities between invasion percolation and critical percolation.
